Aeroplex Expands Its Engine Component Repair Capabilities

Aeroplex has taken another step in expanding the capabilities of its Component Repair Center in Maglód: today, the company signed an agreement with Romania-based Turbomecanica on technological cooperation related to the repair of CFM56 engine parts. The development marks the latest milestone in Aeroplex’s multi-year component repair strategy.

The technological cooperation between Aeroplex and Turbomecanica will enable the further expansion of Aeroplex’s repair portfolio with additional components for the CFM56 engine family. The cooperation covers specialised technological processes required for the repair of engine spinners, including plasma spraying, chemical treatment and precision machining. As a result of the agreement, engine spinners from engine overhaul facilities in Europe, the United States and Morocco will begin arriving at Aeroplex for repair from the end of June.

The development fits closely into Aeroplex’s long-term strategy. Over recent years, the company has steadily expanded its component repair capabilities, while the Component Repair Center in Maglód, opened in 2024, was specifically established to increase the role of high value-added component repair services alongside traditional aircraft maintenance activities.

The CFM56 is one of the most widely used commercial aircraft engine families in the world, powering thousands of Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft globally. Demand for maintenance and repair services related to the engine remains strong worldwide.

Árpád Demény, Managing Director of Aeroplex, said: “The development of our Component Repair Center is one of the key pillars of our corporate strategy. Over the past years, we have expanded our portfolio across several areas, from wheels and brakes repairs to composite technologies, while continuously broadening our capabilities in engine parts repair. This agreement is an important outcome of that work and opens up new opportunities for Aeroplex in the international component repair market.”

Headquartered in Bucharest, Turbomecanica is an aerospace company with more than five decades of experience and extensive expertise in the repair and overhaul of engine components. The cooperation represents another step forward in expanding the capabilities of Aeroplex’s Component Maintenance Center in Maglód while further strengthening the company’s presence in the international component repair market.
