Aeroplex Expands in Bucharest

From mid-December, Aeroplex will operate on two maintenance lines at its Bucharest base, the Hungarian aircraft maintenance company announced. Since the site’s opening in October, operations have been ongoing at Bucharest Băneasa Airport, where the arrival of Spanish airline Albastar will increase the number of aircraft maintained simultaneously to two. In collaboration with local partner Romaero, Aeroplex aims to further enhance its capabilities in the Romanian market.

The Bucharest base plays a key role in Aeroplex’s international expansion strategy. Since its opening on October 18, inaugurated with the participation of Márton Nagy, Hungary’s Minister for Economic Development, the second Boeing 737 is currently under maintenance. Starting mid-December, a new airline, Spainish Albastar, will join Aeroplex’s Bucharest operations. Consequently, the number of aircraft serviced simultaneously in the hangar at Băneasa Airport will rise to two.

Albastar is a long-term partner of Aeroplex, and their aircraft are returning visitors to Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. During this year’s peak maintenance season, the company’s Budapest hangars were fully booked. By leveraging the capacity of its Romanian facility, Aeroplex offers new opportunities for its clients.

All operations at the Bucharest site are conducted under Aeroplex’s authorization and management, with approximately 70 local employees contributing under a maintenance and service agreement. The first phase of collaboration spans from October 2024 to March 2025, focusing on attracting back highly skilled Romanian labor currently working abroad. Aeroplex plans to increase its maintenance lines at the Bucharest facility to three by the end of next year.

Árpád Demény, CEO of Aeroplex, emphasized that the Bucharest base is becoming an increasingly integral part of the company’s hangar maintenance operations, serving as a foundation for Aeroplex’s further expansion in the Romanian market. The progress of its partnership with Romaero enables both parties to maximize their capabilities, ensuring that Aeroplex clients continue to receive top-quality services, regardless of their chosen location.
